Crux Global Agency launched its free Crux Global Academy on Friday, August 28, in Accra, offering online courses on music distribution, marketing and career development for African creatives.
How the Academy Addresses a Knowledge Gap
During the launch press conference held at the company’s Adjiringano office, Kofi Kyei, CEO of Crux Global, explained that the academy was created to fill a void where many artists make key career decisions without understanding the business implications. “Creativity alone is not enough to build a sustainable career. Creatives need to understand the business behind what they do, and that is what we are trying to provide through the Crux Global Academy,” he said.
Courses and Learning Paths
The free platform allows learners to progress at their own pace, with modules designed to demystify the steps involved in releasing and marketing music and building long‑term careers. Key areas include:
- Music distribution fundamentals
- Marketing strategies for the digital age
- Contract negotiation and rights management
- Audience growth and monetisation
Industry Insights and Panel Discussion
The launch also featured a panel led by Kyei and COO Ike Otoo Arhin, where emerging musicians interacted with industry professionals, gaining practical strategies for navigating the music scene. “We want to make industry information accessible to creatives regardless of where they are, their level of experience or their financial circumstances. If you have access to the internet, you should be able to learn and make more informed decisions about your career,” he added.
Beyond Distribution: A Holistic Vision
Crux Global, founded in 2019, has expanded from digital distribution into artist development, entertainment, sports, media, education and cultural strategy. The company’s global ties, including a partnership with Sony Music Group and The Orchard’s technology, help connect African music to worldwide audiences. “We are African‑owned and globally connected. That gives us a unique position because we understand the markets and the challenges our artists face, while also having access to global infrastructure and opportunities,” COO Arhin noted. “We don’t just want to help artists release music; we want to help them understand the industry, grow their audiences and build businesses around their creativity.”
Artists and creatives can now register on the Crux Global Academy website to access the curriculum and join upcoming live sessions, positioning themselves for informed, sustainable careers.
