Colgate, the world’s leading oral‑care brand, has officially kicked off an eight‑week scholarship initiative in partnership with Melcom Supermarkets. The nationwide drive, running from October to December 18, 2026, turns everyday household purchases into educational opportunities for Ghanaians.

Under the programme, shoppers who buy two selected Colgate items—either the 140g Herbal/Maximum Cavity Protection or the 120g Charcoal Gentle Clean—at any of Melcom’s 54 outlets can nominate a student. Each week a winner is drawn from the nominations, and the campaign will award a total of GH¢240,000 in scholarships and GH¢120,000 in Melcom shopping vouchers.

All scholarships, each worth GH¢15,000, are paid directly to the nominated student’s school to cover tuition, levies, exam registrations or essential supplies, ensuring a tangible impact on the child’s education.

Edward Sonkor, Country Lead of Colgate Ghana, said the campaign reflects the brand’s promise to “create smiles that unlock a brighter future.” He added, “A smile is confidence. It is the power that helps a child walk into a classroom ready to learn. This campaign builds a culture that celebrates learning and ensures no child is left behind.”

Customers can participate by scanning the QR code on the in‑store receipt or by texting ‘Hi’ to 0257483187 to link their purchase and nominate a student. The initiative is part of Colgate’s long‑standing commitment to supporting education and community development across Ghana.

As the campaign progresses, stakeholders will monitor the number of nominations and the distribution of scholarships to gauge its reach and effectiveness. Colgate and Melcom have pledged to keep the public updated on the weekly draws and the cumulative impact on student enrolments.
