The 2026 Citi Business Olympics, held under the theme “Bridging the Gap in Our Corporate World Through Sports,” has drawn praise from sponsors for its role in promoting employee wellness, networking and business engagement.
UMB’s Head of Corporate Communications, Edem Knight‑Tay, said the bank’s repeated participation has opened doors to customer engagement and business development. “We also got the opportunity to do business, so we’re the only bank who is able to engage customers and that really excites us. That’s the reason we came back again this year. We’re here to win, but we’re also here to have fun. We’re here to bring the team spirit together,” she added.
SYNLAB Ghana Limited’s CEO, Patrick Asiamah, described the event as more than a fitness platform, calling it a wellness platform that helps employees who work long hours stay fit and maintain a better mental frame of mind. He urged other corporates to view participation as an investment in their workforce: “Look at it from an investment perspective. Investing into the people that make the business their business.”
Mordecai Dusu, Head of Business Development at Bethel Logistics, highlighted the psychological benefits of stepping away from desk work. “We get to sit behind the laptops and in the screens for a very long time in a year. This intervention is very important to us as a corporate body because it’s given us the avenue to actually train psychologically, do some form of exercises, relieve ourselves from certain stresses, and then network.”
Other participants echoed the sentiment. Branch Manager Kekeli Klutse of Boss GH Natural Mineral Water said the event brings unity, fun and excitement, which are vital for corporate cohesion. Senior Operator Mahmoud Bonase of Cargill praised the program as “very, very, very important” for exposing workers to new experiences and brand exposure.
Sales Executive Marlyse Oganchi of Eden Heights Sports Complex noted the venue’s role in fostering social interaction: “Networking, this one is the best thing… everybody is here, so we can actually network.”
The 2026 edition is powered by 97.3 Citi FM, supported by Channel One TV, and sponsored by Cargill Ghana Limited, Synlab, UMB, Bethel Logistics and Eden Heights Sports Complex. Corporate teams will compete for bragging rights while enjoying the wellness and networking benefits the event promises.
