Veteran gospel musician Bernice Offei will be buried on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Legon Interdenominational Church (LIC) in Accra. The funeral schedule begins with a remembrance night on Wednesday, November 11, at 7 p.m., with seating starting at 6:30 p.m. The burial service is set for Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by a private interment and final rites at the church between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. A thanksgiving service will take place Sunday, November 15, at 10:30 a.m. No sitting will be held after the memorial service.

Offei, who died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 63, was celebrated for her soulful vocals and spiritual depth that shaped Ghana’s gospel scene over several decades. She released six studio albums, with her 2007 album Life earning her Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards.

She was married to Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, a former Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and the couple had two children. Offei’s hit song “Life Is Short” was inspired by a family experience that highlighted the fleeting nature of life, a theme she explored in interviews and in her music. She also reflected on the death of a young student friend, which deepened her message about life’s fragility and the need to be ready to meet God.

The funeral will be a private affair, with the final rites held at the church following the burial. Attendees are expected to pay their respects and celebrate Offei’s legacy in gospel music and her contributions to the community.
