New Patriotic Party 2028 presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia met with the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) at the PSG House in Accra to outline plans for strengthening local pharmaceutical manufacturing and positioning Ghana as a leading drug production hub in West Africa.

The meeting was part of Dr Bawumia’s ongoing stakeholder engagements, where he highlighted the need to expand domestic production, streamline regulatory processes, improve support for pharmacists, and reinforce public‑private partnerships in the sector.
PSGH leaders used the forum to share their perspectives on how Ghana could build its pharmaceutical production capacity and address local industry needs. The proposed focus on local manufacturing comes as Ghana seeks to strengthen domestic production across key sectors.

What follows is a series of policy proposals and industry‑sector collaborations aimed at making Ghana a self‑sufficient drug producer and a regional supplier of quality pharmaceuticals.
