Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract with Arsenal that will keep him at the club until 2030, with a salary increase to £15 million a year plus additional bonuses.

The Spaniard’s original deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but talks moved quickly after the club’s board confirmed the extension earlier this month.

Arteta, who took over in December 2019, has guided the Gunners to a Premier League title last season and a Champions League final, and is now the longest‑serving manager in the English top flight.

"This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue," Arteta said. "We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together."

Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick said the stability would give the club a competitive edge, noting that Arteta is the only manager in the league who has won the Premier League and is still in charge.

"We can't stand still. We can't sit there, pat ourselves on the back, and say job done. This is the beginning, not the end of our journey," Garlick added.

The deal, reported earlier by BBC Sport, sees Arteta’s salary rise from £10 million a year to £15 million, with an additional £5 million in bonuses.

Co‑chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke praised Arteta’s commitment to the club’s values and his desire to build a lasting legacy.

With the contract in place, Arsenal’s foundation for sustained success remains intact as the club looks to build on its recent revival.
