On Friday, 9 October 2026, Emmanuel Armah‑Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, was called to the Ghana Bar. The ceremony added a formal legal qualification to a career that has spanned Parliament, government and public administration.

Buah’s admission follows his graduation in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Law in the United Kingdom in May 2026, after previously earning a Graduate Diploma in Law from the same institution in 2022. His academic journey has taken him through Ghana, the United States and the United Kingdom, with postgraduate studies and a professional career in the U.S. before entering Parliament in 2009.

During his ministerial tenure, he has been at the centre of key policy questions in Ghana’s energy and petroleum sectors, contributing to the Ghana Gas Task Force and shaping the blueprint for the Ghana National Gas Company. He has also worked on petroleum‑sector policy, local‑content regulation and the framework governing exploration and production.

As Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Buah now oversees land administration, mineral resources, forestry and environmental governance—areas where legislation and regulatory oversight are critical. His pursuit of legal education represents an additional dimension to an already extensive public service career.

At 60, Buah’s admission to the Ghana Bar underscores the continuing relevance of education to leadership and public administration, offering a model of lifelong learning for professionals in Ghana and beyond.
