On Tuesday, September 8, retired military captain and former UT Bank founder Prince Kofi Amoabeng visited President John Dramani Mahama’s private residence to discuss matters he described as of national interest. The meeting followed a longstanding friendship that began when Mahama served as Vice President.
Amoabeng posted a Facebook message after the encounter, saying he was encouraged by the President’s performance and was ready to support his efforts to improve Ghana. He wrote,
"I made a quick stop at His Excellency John Mahama's @officialjdmahama private residence to discuss a few matters of national interest. So far, I believe he is doing well, and we are glad to support him in every way we can as he works towards building a better Ghana,"the retired captain added.
He also highlighted the importance of leadership and mindset for national development, stating,
"A better Ghana begins with the right mindset, responsible leadership, and a shared commitment to progress,"he said.
Amoabeng has previously praised Mahama as humble, down‑to‑earth and humane, noting these traits have remained consistent since their early association. The entrepreneur has long advocated for greater support of local businesses, efficiency, and innovation as key drivers of Ghana’s economic growth. He urges entrepreneurs to create value‑generating enterprises that promote professionalism and responsible leadership.
While the meeting was private, the public statement from Amoabeng signals continued alignment between former banking magnate and Mahama’s government. The support may strengthen calls for a renewed focus on local enterprise development and national leadership standards.
