Richard Ahiagbah, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National First Vice Chairman aspirant and current Director of Communications, has dismissed a Global InfoAnalytics poll that ranks four of his competitors ahead of him in the upcoming national officers’ elections. The poll, released just days before the vote, places Nana Akomea, Mustapha Abdul‑Hamid, Henry Nana Boakye and Kodjo Fosu Boadu ahead of Ahiagbah.
Ahiagbah said the poll was merely a campaign tool and that the real outcome would be determined by the delegates who will cast their votes on Saturday, October 3, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. “The real poll will be what we are going to get on Saturday,” he told supporters.
He urged delegates to consider the need for regional balance in the party’s leadership, arguing that his election would help broaden the NPP’s appeal beyond its traditional base ahead of the 2028 general elections. “To bring Richard in for regional balance is to accept a certain strategy that gets us in a position where we target this minority vote,” he added.
Meanwhile, aspiring NPP National Youth Organiser Clement Opoku Gyamfi, known as CID, said the poll has motivated him to intensify his campaign. He pledged to engage delegates more vigorously as he seeks the youth organiser position.
As the NPP heads into its Saturday vote, the party’s internal dynamics will be closely watched, with delegates deciding whether Ahiagbah can overcome the poll’s projected standings and secure the National First Vice Chairman role.
