The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) announced that the 2027 Africa Prosperity Dialogues will now run from January 13 to 15 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, replacing the earlier dates of January 27 to 29.
The change synchronises the event with the African Union’s continental schedule. The AU Summit is set for 30–31 January in Addis Ababa, preceded by Executive Council meetings on 27–28 January.
Adjusting the dates also respects Ramadan, which is expected to begin on the evening of February 7, 2027, with the first day of fasting on February 8, subject to the moon sighting.
Convened under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, APD 2027 will convene political and business leaders to push forward commitments on free movement and seamless cross‑border payments—key levers for boosting intra‑African trade and advancing the African Union’s integration agenda.
APD traditionally takes place about two weeks before the AU Summit, allowing its main outcome document, the APD Action Compact, to be presented to Africa’s leaders in Addis Ababa. The Compact reflects the private sector’s stance on the continent’s single market agenda.
The revised timing preserves the link between private sector dialogue and continental decision‑making while avoiding scheduling clashes for heads of state, ministers and other participants.
APD 2027 will unfold at a moment of particular significance, as Ghana prepares to celebrate its 70th independence anniversary on 6 March and President Mahama is expected to be confirmed as AU Chairperson at the forthcoming summit.
According to Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, “His Excellency views APD 2027 as a foundational pillar in a landmark year for Ghana and the continent.”
Under the theme “The Africa We Want Is Borderless. Move Freely. Pay Seamlessly. Trade More,” discussions will focus on practical steps to advance free movement, seamless payments and increased intra‑African trade.
APN apologises for any inconvenience caused by the change and encourages partners, sponsors and delegates to update their plans. The Secretariat will assist with enquiries arising from the adjustment.
