Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has announced a comprehensive facelift of Accra’s principal roads in preparation for Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary in March 2027. The programme will focus largely on resealing key arteries to enhance road safety and give the capital a fresh infrastructural look ahead of the national celebrations.
Agbodza also disclosed that stalled projects, including the Kasoa and Ofankor roads, will be completed as part of efforts to improve connectivity and ease congestion along some of Accra’s busiest corridors. He added that work has resumed on the coastal road corridor, stretching from Independence Square through Osu to Tema.
These projects form part of the government’s broader strategy to upgrade Accra’s road network and ensure the city is ready to host the activities marking the country’s 70th Independence anniversary in March 2027.
