Accra will host the 15th Africa Internet Governance Forum (AIGF) in November 2026, signalling Ghana’s growing influence in the digital arena. The event will bring together policymakers, technologists and civil society groups from across the continent to discuss issues ranging from cybersecurity to digital inclusion.
Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations Minister Samuel Nartey George confirmed the hosting bid during a Government Accountability Series address at Jubilee House on Monday, September 7, 2026. He highlighted that the move fits into Ghana’s broader strategy to strengthen its regional and international engagement in telecommunications, cybersecurity and digital governance.
Mr George noted that Ghana has already chaired the Africa Network of Cybersecurity Authorities and the Arab Region roundtable, and continues to work with international partners on cyber‑security and digital technology initiatives. He added that the government is pushing reforms aimed at bolstering the country’s digital ecosystem.
“We are not building technology for technology’s sake; we are building it to improve lives, expand opportunity and create prosperity,” Mr George said. The forum is expected to provide a platform for Ghana to contribute meaningfully to global conversations on technology.
Delegates and stakeholders can look forward to a series of workshops, panels and networking sessions that will explore how Africa can harness digital tools for development, governance and economic growth.
