The Abuakwa North Municipal Director of Education, Grace Adza‑Wude, urged pupils to take science and mathematics seriously as a way to tackle Ghana’s challenges and fuel national development. She made the appeal following a donation from Member of Parliament Nana Ampaw Kwame Addo‑Frempong, who supplied laptops and cash to Bright Senior High School, Saviour Senior High School and Ofori Panin Senior High School for their participation in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Ms Adza‑Wude called on teachers, parents and other educational stakeholders to foster a strong interest in the STEM subjects. She said that prioritising science and maths would equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to devise innovative solutions to the country’s problems and contribute meaningfully to development.
MP Addo‑Frempong explained that the initiative is intended to encourage students to work harder and develop a passion for science and maths. He also announced scholarship opportunities for students pursuing medical education, aiming to attract more young people into science and medicine careers.
The combined support is expected to motivate students to perform better academically and help drive Ghana’s national development.
